Turkey’s First and Only Domestic Time Server Ekosync is Preferred for Building Health Inspection!
Kandilli Observatory used the time servers produced by ARF Technologies for building health monitoring in historical and mega buildings. Per AFAD’s Building Health Monitoring System Application Directive, EKOSync1588 Series Time Server was preferred to ensure operational resilience by enabling simultaneous acceleration measurements of critical structures in earthquake risk zones.

In Europe’s Tallest Building:
- n this 66-story megastructure, a time server is placed on every 10th floor, allowing precise data collection from sensors. This arrangement made it possible to synchronize measurements throughout the building.
- Operating with a latency of 200 ms, EkoSync1588 devices ensured that the data was tagged with accurate timestamps and processed with high accuracy. This low latency is vital for building monitoring systems.
- With 44 channels and 14 sensors integrated throughout the building, the performance of the time servers is maximized. This demonstrates that the devices are able to process large data loads efficiently.
- The high synchronization between sensors and data acquisition devices ensures consistent and reliable data throughout the building. This has increased the accuracy of analysis in building health monitoring.
EcoSync Time Server Highlights High Accuracy:
Millisecond-Level Measurement and Low Latency
EkoSync time servers provide high accuracy by making precise measurements at the millisecond level. This enables just-in-time mapping of data collected from sensors, especially in critical applications such as building health inspection and seismic monitoring. Low latency ensures accurate processing of data with timestamps, which is vital for reliable analysis and monitoring processes.
Long Life and Durability:
EkoSync time servers, designed with domestic production quality, have been used reliably in the field for more than 7 years. Built to withstand harsh environmental conditions, these devices can be used in areas that require continuous performance, such as building health and seismic monitoring, without any failures or problems. This long life reduces operating costs and accelerates return on investment.
Cost Efficiency:
EkoSync offers a high quality solution that complies with international standards while providing cost-effective advantages. It offers lower logistics costs due to local production and minimizes the need for maintenance and spare parts in the long term thanks to its durable structure. This provides an economic advantage, especially in large-scale projects, and creates a budget-friendly alternative.
Fast Integration into Different Building Types
Thanks to its user-friendly design, EkoSync can be easily integrated into different building types and infrastructures. With its compact dimensions and flexible connection options, it offers fast and effortless installation for both new builds and existing systems. In particular, its compatibility with wired and wireless data collection systems creates a wide range of uses. This flexibility ensures seamless integration even in complex projects.
The First and Only Domestic Time Server Produced in Turkey
EkoSync is the first and only domestic time server developed and manufactured in Turkey. This feature indicates that the device has been designed specifically for the needs of the Turkish market and is fully compliant with local regulations. Thanks to the advantage of domestic production, it provides faster technical support and spare parts supply, while also contributing to the national economy. As a domestic and national product, EkoSync is a strategic solution that increases technology independence.
Areas where the Use of Time Servers in Mega Buildings is Mandatory under the Regulation
Following Article 5 of AFAD’s Building Health Inspection Regulation published on 10/01/2020, it is defined under the section “Special Rules for the Design of High-Rise Building Structural Systems Under Earthquake Effects” in the annex of the Turkish Building Earthquake Regulation.
time servers are applied in high-rise buildings.
ARTICLE 5 – (1) All devices to be installed in the building within the scope of YSIS shall be synchronized with each other. In the CEIS, all devices should be installed to be synchronized with each other. It should be preferred that accelerometers and data collection devices are connected with cables. If wireless data collection systems are used, it should be shown that there is no synchronization problem. The cables between the accelerometer and the data acquisition (digitizer) device shall be of a nature to prevent the increase of noise in the collected data. It should be preferred that the cable lengths should not exceed 100 m.
(2) GPS should be installed on the roof of the building to adapt to the synchronized universal time (UTC) and to synchronize the sensors. In addition to the system, NTP server can also be used. Digital sensors should be directly connected to the network via Ethernet cable. It should be checked at the output of the digitizer unit whether the noise level in Table (2) is exceeded.
(3) The cables used in CEIS must comply with the first paragraph of Article 83 of the Regulation on Fire Protection of Buildings published in the Official Gazette dated 19/12/2007 and numbered 26735.
Conclusion
EkoSync1588 Series Time Servers are used in building health and seismic monitoring systems as a domestic solution manufactured in Turkey. Designed specifically to meet sensitive data collection and synchronization requirements, these devices have demonstrated reliable performance for many years. The advantage of local production offers significant conveniences in terms of both cost and technical support.
EkoSync1588, used in the Kandilli Observatory and AFAD building mountain inspection projects, has ensured that high-frequency data is accurately matched with timestamps. In Europe’s tallest building, data synchronization was successfully realized by placing a device on every 10 floors. Processing complex data from 44 channels and 14 sensors, this system combines reliability and accuracy.
EkoSync1588 stands out as a solution that complies with AFAD’s Building Health Inspection Regulation by complying with local regulations. This device, which is used for monitoring critical structures especially in earthquake zones, provides flexible use in different projects.
The results obtained so far show that EkoSync1588 is a reliable alternative in building health and seismic monitoring projects. The fact that it is locally produced increases the usability of the device in projects and makes it an important option for future applications.
