Time Synchronization in Subways and Railways

Time synchronization in rail systems is vital to accurately coordinate all train and metro movements, preventing collisions and accidents. At the same time, punctual execution of train schedules and minimizing delays is a critical factor for system efficiency and passenger satisfaction. Simultaneous data flow between stations, trains and control centers ensures uninterrupted operations.

What are the Advantages of Accurate and Secure Time Sourcing?

Coordination and Safety: All train movements are accurately coordinated, preventing collisions and accidents.

Efficiency: Timely implementation of train schedules is ensured and delays are minimized.

Seamless Data Flow: Continuous data exchange between stations, trains and control centers. This makes it possible for all subsystems to work together in harmony.

Emergency Response: Prevents operational disruptions by enabling rapid intervention.

Energy and Cost Savings: Energy consumption and costs are reduced with more efficient line utilization.

EKOSYNC 1588 SOLUTION FOR RAILWAYS AND SUBWAYS

EKOSync is optimized to provide highly accurate time synchronization in rail systems. These solutions increase the efficiency of businesses by improving the continuity and reliability of the infrastructure.

NTP/PTP Synchronization

  • Precision Time Protocol (PTP) and Network Time Protocol (NTP) enable simultaneous operation of multiple systems such as CCTV, passenger information systems, access control and IT infrastructure.
  • Redundant Time Servers: Servers with automatic backup in case of GPS failure ensure operational continuity.

In this example, the GPS-connected Grandmaster clock at the main station provides reference time to all stations. Master clocks at each station coordinate other systems in the local infrastructure and backup clocks support the continuity of synchronization.

Thanks to this structure, the master station GPS-supported Grandmaster clocks distribute the correct time to the entire infrastructure. At Local Stations, master clocks support the correct operation of subsystems, while backup clocks are activated in case of GPS loss. Remote monitoring of clocks and automatic time adjustments ensure uninterrupted operation of the infrastructure.
